    Objective:

    The objective of this assignment is to increase the learning capabilities of the students about:

    • Frequency Planning
    • Cell Pattern
    • Channels Distribution
    • Network Cells

    Assignment

    Question – 1

    Consider a network consisting of 3 clusters. Each cluster uses the frequency reuse parameters i=1 and j=3 to allocate frequency channel to the cells in the clusters. You are required to draw cell pattern showing all three clusters and label the co-channel cells with same name.

    Question – 2

    Consider a situation where a cellular network is allocated 300 duplex channels to provide network services in a service region. The company decides to replicate the clusters 10 times and uses a frequency reuse factor of 12. The radius of each cell will be 2 miles. For the given scenario, answer the following questions:

    1. What will be maximum number of channels that the network can use at any given time?
    2. What should be the minimum distance kept between two co-channel cells in order to avoid any interference?

    Answer:

    Co-channels cells distance(D)= 12
    Radius of the cell = 2
    K = 12
    D/R= √3K 》1/12÷2=√3(12) 》6 = 6
    Minimum distance = 6

    Answer:

    Cell cluster  size K= 12
    Frequency reuse factor = 1/12
    No. of duplex channels (T)=300
    Total channels (N) = T/K 》300/12 = 25 channels per cell 
    K=12 , N= 25 Channels/cell
    Cluster are replicated M= 10 , T=300
    System  capacity = M×T 》10 ×300 =3000 Total Channels
