You are required to design a 4-bit even up-counter using D flip flop by converting combinational circuit to sequential circuit. The counter will only consider even inputs and the sequence of inputs will be 0-2-4-6-8-10-0.
You are required to perform following tasks:- Draw the State diagram.
- Generate State & Transition Table.
- Generate simplified Boolean Expression.
- Design the final Circuit diagram.

Draw the State diagram.
Example 1:
dark circle that represents the initial state and ends with a bordered circle that represents the final state. States are denoted with rectangles with rounded corners. Each rectangle is labeled with the name of the state.

@zareen said in CS302 Assignment 3 Solution and Discussion:
Generate State & Transition Table.
Whenever an unused state is encountered, the state machine is designed to enter state 0 on the next clock rising edge. Each state in the counter is encoded by the Q outputs of the D-type flip-flops, as shown in Table 5.46. The state transition table for the counter can then be created, as shown in Table 5.47.

@zareen said in CS302 Assignment 3 Solution and Discussion:
Generate simplified Boolean Expression.
From the truth table, derive the Sum of Products Boolean Expression. Use Boolean Algebra to simplify the boolean expression. The simpler the boolean expression, the less logic gates will be used. Use logic gates to implement the simplified Boolean Expression.

Design the final Circuit diagram.
A circuit diagram is a graphical representation of an electrical circuit. A pictorial circuit diagram … Circuit diagrams are used for the design (circuit design), construction (such as PCB layout), and maintenance of electrical and electronic … This results in the final layout artwork for the integrated circuit or printed circuit board.
