You may have often thought about or even researched different point based and investment based immigration programs around the world. But since this is a complicated subject, over 90% of people get confused or disheartened in the early stages of their search for information. Not just that, but most consultants often misguide clients simply to make a quick buck, leading to a lot of dissapointment for the people who fall prey to this unethical practice.

Let me tell you about what, I believe, is the best way to get your 2nd nationality as Pakistanis:

    Express Entry immigration in Canada.

Canada, the 2nd largest country in the world by area, has been allowing over 300,000 immigrants a year for almost a decade and plans on increasing its allowance for international skilled professionals for several decades to come. The main reason for this is the same as in most developed countries around the world; They have a receding population. This means that their elderly population is much larger in number compared to their younger population. What this implies is that governments and private sector companies have to spend more on pensions and healthcare than the potential growth in the market and growth in tax revenue. This could lead to devastating effects to the economy if something is not done about it, and fast.

Canada has one of the fairest and fastest immigration programs in the world. Several points are taken into consideration to give you a total points score, based on its Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). In simple terms, if you have enough points, you get a direct Permanent Residency (PR) leading to nationality. This Express Entry stream is essentially based on the following:

    FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM (FSWP)

    1. Education (Degrees attained)

    2. Age (Years remaining before retirement)

    3. Work experience (Skill level in past 5 years)

    4. IELTS (Language proficiency)

    5. Arranged Employment (Not compulsory but a plus)

    6. Family in Canada (Also optional)

All these items are assigned specific points and based on the total score achieved, you may be given an Invitation to Apply (ITA), which essentially means that your profile has been accepted.

In some cases, candidates may not be getting enough points to qualify for an ITA, thus leading them to require “help” from individual provinces within Canada, based on the skill requirements of that territory specifically. These candidates will have to then apply on top of their Express Entry profile to a provincial immigration stream as well:

    PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM (PNP)

    Here all provinces have their own set criteria, which are very similar to the main Express Entry stream, however, with significant changes;

    1. Work experience reviewed for past 10 years.

    2. Age factor has a different ranking scale.

    3. Family needs to be within the province itself.

    4. Occupation must match provincial requirements.

These, among other finer points that pertain to each individual province, make this a bit more complicated but still very much attainable if looked into properly, or in case you hire an honest and experienced consultant to guide you through the process. There are many other immigration streams apart from the FSWP and PNP, but none that really apply to Pakistanis without a valid job offer in Canada.

    POINTS TO KEEP IN MIND

    1. The entire process takes between 6 to 12 months in most cases. In some cases, it can take longer depending on several factors.

    2. All direct family members come under a single application, which makes it a more convenient solution for families.

    3. IELTS is compulsory and good scores are needed to have any chance at securing a good CRS score. There is no way around this.

    4. Financial requirements vary according to family size, but as a general rule of thumb, a single candidate needs about PKR 18 lac, while a family of 4 needs close to PKR 34 lac.

    5. The cost of the process is not very high and is split into different stages accross the timeline. All in all, the entire fee for a single candidate is close to PKR 2.5 lac, PKR 5 lac for a married couple, and about PKR 5.75 lac if there are 2 children as well.

I hope this information helps many of you understand what Canadian immigration is all about. I am sure this could be a great solution for a lot of you here.

Best wishes to you all! 🧭🗺🌐
