We have seen a bunch of renders and leaked images in the past that seem to show conflicting designs of the upcoming Mi Mix 2 successor. However, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has put all of that to rest by revealing promotional images of the smartphone that give us a pretty good look at what the front of the Mi Mix 2s will look like. Notably, the images posted on the CEO’s official Weibo account show that the Mi Mix 2s will not sport a small display notch on the top right corner as previously rumoured.
In fact, the Mi Mix 2s will not come with a notch at all, which is interesting to see considering a number of Android OEMs have been embracing the notch in recent months. From what we can tell, the Mi Mix 2s will sport a design similar to its predecessors, with minimal bezels on the top and sides and a narrow chin on the bottom. The bottom bezel is likely to house the front-facing camera and perhaps some other sensors as well. The Mi Mix 2s is expected to come with a bigger screen-to-body ratio compared to its predecessor so the chin might be slimmer than before. Like the Mi Mix 2, the upcoming smartphone will also have a little opening on the top of the display to house the earpiece.
The promo images do not reveal the rear of the Mi Mix 2s, but one expects to see something in the coming days. From what rumours tell us, the fingerprint sensor will likely be placed on the back near the centre and just below the rear camera setup. As per past reports, the Mi Mix 2s is tipped to sport dual rear cameras on the back. The Mi Mix 2s is also expected to use an IMX363 image sensor, but not much else is known at the moment regarding the camera configurations.

As per some teasers last week, the Mi Mix 2s will likely focus on AI-powered cameras. The smartphone could feature fast autofocus, or perhaps 4K recording at 60fps or maybe even 720p slow-mo recording at 480fps, but again nothing much can be said for sure at the moment. We could also see improved bokeh photos if the Mi Mix 2s does indeed come with a dual rear camera setup. What we do know is that the upcoming flagship will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset. A teaser late last month revealed an AnTuTu benchmark score of 273,741 of the Mi Mix 2s running the latest Qualcomm chipset.
