Most of the Dates produced in Pakistan are cultivated in Balochistan and Sindh provinces.Pakistan is the sixth largest producer of dates in the world. Thanks to suitable climate conditions, Khairpur in Sindh occupies central place in the country’s date production.
There are more than 160 varieties of dates palm in the country, among them the popular varieties are: Aseel, Zahidi, Fasli, Maazwati, Dhakki, Kharbalian, Begum Jangi, Dagh, Goakna, Tota, Karwan, Hillavi, Khudrawi and Mozawati Gulistan, Jowansur, Lango, Sabzo, Kharuba, Karbala, and Kupro.

Date fruits (dates) are oval-cylindrical, 3 to 7 centimetres (1 to 3 in) long, and about 2.5 centimetres (1 in) in diameter, ranging from bright red to bright yellow in colour, depending on variety. Containing 61–68 percent sugar by mass when dried, dates are a very sweet fruit.
