b)Find , and by proportional allocation from the following information.
=1580, =1140, =125, =114 and =440.
c)A quality manager is interested to estimate the mean diameter of bolts produced in the last week. Determine the sample size to obtain 95% confidence level for population if the error in the estimate will not be more than 3cm. A pilot sample yields a standard deviation of 30 cm.

A simple random sample is generated by a design, which warrants that each subgroup of the population of size n has an equal probability of being picked as the sample. In R, we can draw a random sample of size 10 from the numbers 1 to 1000, using the sample function sample (1:1000, 10) .
