Playing games on VR requires high-end GPUs and not everyone has the budget to access a high-end graphics card to play games in Virtual reality especially when there is a shortage of GPUs in the market and the prices have reached sky-high even for the budget GPUs. However, SteamVR has come with a solution that will let you play games in VR on your low-end or budget GPUs.SteamVR has introduced an Auto Resolution feature which allows users to extract the best possible performance out of their system for their Virtual Reality games and bringing virtual reality gaming into the grasp of gamers who don’t have a high-end graphics card.As the name implies, the SteamVR Auto Resolution feature measures the GPU in the system and renders the game on a resolution that is possible for the GPU to play the game at an acceptable frame rate for the VR.This SteamVR feature will not only improve the experience for the low-end and budget GPU owners but the high-end GPU owners will also see a noticeable improvement. The only downside to this is that the low-end graphics card owners will have to play games at a relatively lower resolution, however, the render resolution of the game will not go lower than the native resolution of HTC Vive or Oculus Rift. This will in turn de-couple the need for upgrading the GPU for the low-end GPU owners. This SteamVR Auto Resolution feature is available for all SteamVR compatible headsets like HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro, Oculus Rift and all Windows Mixed Reality headsets. It is nice to see that Steam is looking after its costumers who own budget GPUs. What do you think of this feature? Will it help gamers to play VR games on their budget GPUs? Let us know in the comments.
