Snapchat has gotten into the Easter spirit by creating an Easter egg hunt for its users.More than a million Easter eggs have been hidden for Snapchatters to find, with points given for each egg found.Regular Easter eggs net Snapchat users one point while harder-to-find golden eggs are worth five points.Snapchat keeps tracks of points and will compare a user’s score to any friends that are also playing along.Easter eggs have been hidden in public places like cinemas, restaurants, cafes and post offices. However, not all Snapchat users will be able to take part in the ‘Great Snapchat Egg Hunt’.The Easter 2018 activity is only available for Snapchat users in the US and Canada – UK fans will be missing out, Newsweek reported. If you’re eligible play and you want to take part, start by opening the Snap Map.Going into this feature will bring up a message that says “The Great Snapchat Egg Hunt Begins”.It adds: “The hunt is on – collect as many eggs as you can through April 1st!“Just tap a nearby egg on the Map to add it to your basket.“Remember: play safe, keep an eye on your surroundings, no trespassing, and have fun!”Using the Snap Map means friends will be able to see a user’s location, but if you want to be incognito then search for eggs in Ghost Mode.Unlike a real Easter egg hunt, the egg doesn’t disappear once someone finds it – meaning it will stay in its location for other users to collect.Snapchat users collecting the Easter eggs will be able to unlock a new ‘World Lens’ filter. The Easter egg hunt comes after Snapchat earlier this year suffered a huge backlash over its controversial redesign. The selfie app rolled-out its new design worldwide in February. The new look separated content from professional publishers, and those created by users’ friends and family.Stories, individual messages, Snaps and videos from the latter are now housed in an algorithmically-sorted feed, which is accessed by swiping from left-to-right on the main camera screen.Swiping in the opposite direction, which used to launch a panel which housed Stories from friends and publishers alike, now reveals the Discover feed. But the design sparked a huge backlash from fans, with over a million people signing a petition calling on Snapchat to revert back to its old design.Since then Snap Inc revealed plans to bring some changes to the new design.Responding to fans’ concerns, they said: “We hear you, and appreciate that you took the time to let us know how you feel.”We completely understand the new Snapchat has felt uncomfortable for many.“By putting everything from your friends in one place, our goal was to make it easier to connect with the people you care about most.“The new Friends page will adapt to you and get smarter over time, reflecting who you’re most likely to be Snapping with at that moment.“This same personalisation is also true of the new Discover, which will adapt to you the more that you use it.”
