No Google doodle about Easter!

Google is making it very clear that it does not celebrate Easter by not showing a “Google Doodle” about Easter on its homepage. This is despite Google showing a Google doodle celebrating everything and anything including Burning man (a pagan cult festival in the desert), a bin laden supporter, scientists birthdays, Gay pride etc. The first and last time Google showed a “Doodle” celebrating easter was back in 2000 and ever since then Google has made sure not to show one.

At first glance this may seem like pretty insignificant news, however this isn’t the first time Google has tried to whitewash Christianity. Google regularly gets criticized for censoring Christian vloggers on youtube and has even went so far to censor questions about Jesus on its Google home device. This shows that Google doesn’t want people finding out about Christianity.
Why is this so important? As Google has a monopoly on internet search it means that Google has a huge responsibility and influence on the flow of the worlds information. However, google is simply choosing to abuse its monopoly and influence by deliberately showing certain things that it wants people to find out about whilst censoring things that it does not want people to find out about on its search engine. By showing doodles for insignificant and morally questionable things but not even acknowledging Easter the most important event to ever happen on earth Google is basically is sending a strong message that it does not think Easter is worth showing its “users” and is trying to shape society against what Easter stands for.
Not all search engines are choosing to censor Easter.. Googles main competitor has included a subtle references to Easter celebrations with an clickable Easter egg on its home page.
