When you are a parent, you have different types of ambitions for your little one which may consist of him or her becoming a professor, a doctor, an engineer or some other type of skilled and qualified professional. All such expectations are motivated by your judgments which you have about your child’s bright outlook. As first-class education is certainly a key to a bright future, this guides one to make ones child get admitted to some high-quality school. In this connection, parents support their child to work hard and perform his best in the examinations. To strengthen this, they send their children to coaching classes too. Performing well in educational career adds to the chances of getting some secured job. A secured job guarantees that the person’s future life is safe and bright. But, in reality all such expectations from your children do more harm than good, especially to your child. In order to comprehend it fully, we should reconsider some of our basic assumptions.
Childhood, being a valuable and precious part of one’s life, should not be wasted following the false demands such as by making a child to spend too many rs in academic study or by judging a person through his/her annual result card simply measures an entire individual in numbers. Secondly, it is assumed that high-quality education is only a key to social and economic success. Although this fact cannot be ignored yet to restrict education to this factor only is actually to limit the purpose of good education. The basic aim of a school education should be to direct the child in his discovery of himself and his surrounding globe, and explore and nourish the child’s potential in a right direction. Like each seed encloses a future tree, in the same way every child comes to this world with endless potentials. Think of an educational institute that perceives children as seeds to be nourished where the educator is a gardener who aids to discover and polish the talents already hidden in the child.
‘This is something very unusual from the present view that sees children as clay to be molded where the educators and parents act as potters and decide which form the clay should mold. The educationists should try to build institutions based on values of originality, truthfulness, uprightness and care. The parents should never give up their child’s
present to protect his future. Instead try to give yo the liberty to actually discover life. By making such arrangements, you will Ind your child blooming into an original and responsive human being. And if this happens, everything else – money, social status, stability – will fall into place involuntarily. Let your child be a child.
