Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered looks set to give Black Ops 4 some serious competition in 2018.A new leak suggests Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will have a Monday, April 30 release date on PS4 and Xbox One.Posted on Amazon and discovered by IGN Italia, the retail listing suggests the new remaster will launch with a budget price tag.Available for just €19.99 (which probably means a £20 price tag in the UK), Modern Warfare 2 Remastered appears to be a standalone release, instead of a Black Ops 4 bonus.While the existence of a Modern Warfare 2 remaster is plausible, the release date has raised some eyebrows.With a some exceptions, most video games typically release on either Tuesday or Friday.It’s possible the date is a placeholder, and that the game will launch later this year instead.Call of Duty Black Ops 4 was announced alongside a teaser trailer last week.The teaser showcased the series so far, featuring clips from the various campaigns and zombies spinoffs.Recent rumours have suggested that the game will tone down the futuristic elements that appeared in more recent releases.Developed by Treyarch, the shooter is said to represent a “game-changing experience”. Little else is known about the title.Black Ops 4 publisher Activision has even hinted at Battle Royale gameplay support to rival PUBG and Fortnite.Ahead of Black Ops 3’s full reveal on May 17, Activision has told investors that it is “keenly aware” of the battle royale genre’s popularity.Perhaps Activision is planning a battle royale mode for Call of Duty Black Ops 4.”The investment firm says Activision is keenly aware of how other game publishers have recently benefited from releasing titles in the popular battle royale genre,” reads a tweet by WSJ reporter Sarah E Needleman.“Management reminded investors that the company is a faster follower.”
