With the Far Cry Arcade Mode, players have been recreating their favorite maps from other video games such as the “PUBG” Battle Royale and the de_dust2 map from “Counter-Strike.” People are even making an Upside Down map from “Stranger Things.”  ( Ubisoft North America | YouTube ) Far Cry 5 has just been released, but that didn’t stop players from fully exploring the capabilities of the Arcade Mode. The Far Cry Arcade feature lets players create their own map and game modes with assets from Ubisoft. In the span of a couple days, users have already created maps in the style of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Battle Royale and Counter-Strike’s de_dust2 map.Just like in Counter-Strike, the Far Cry Arcade map allows players to form a team and then snipe one another. Most of the usual sightlines are there, but the bomb-defusing objective mode is missing. Still, it’s good enough to take players back into their previous “Rush B” moments. The PUBG clone looks pretty similar, and it can support up to 20 participants. The map is still bare in comparison, though, but players are already having a go at one another on it.Aside from these two games, players have also tried recreating the Baker’s House from Resident Evil 7 and the Upside Down from the Stranger Things series. Someone also made a bare recreation of Call of Duty’s Nuketown, where there are 11 NPC enemies. These creations are impressive, considering that Far Cry 5 was only released on March 27. While they look pretty close to what the maps they’re mimicking, the first creations are still a little bit rough on the edges.Far Cry Arcade To Improve Over TimeThe possibilities are virtually endless, and Ubisoft is not stopping at the current state of the map editor. The Far Cry Arcade currently has over 9,000 items from Ubisoft’s games, including Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, and previous Far Cry installments. According to Philip Fournier, associate producer, the three major expansions coming to Far Cry 5 will also add something to Far Cry Arcade.”If the mainline Far Cry 5 game is a cake — with all its layers — then Far Cry Arcade is our cookbook,” said Fournier.”We give you all of the tools and ingredients and then it’s up to you, the player, to make your own scenarios, anecdotes and moments that you can share with rest of the community.”The gaming company also promised new content to be added regularly, as well as live events to support the community in creating more maps. Ubisoft Montreal hopes to support this feature for a long time.Far Cry 5 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. © 2018 Tech Times, All rights reserved.
