The rumors are confirmed: Apple just launched a red version of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus.
The (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition iPhones are the same as regular iPhone 8 and 8 Plus in every other way besides the color.
“This special edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone features a stunning red and black colour combination and also offers customers the opportunity to make an impact in fighting the spread of HIV and AIDS,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of product marketing.
According to Deborah Dugan, the CEO of (RED), Apple has donated more than $160 million to (RED)’s efforts to combat AIDS and HIV in the last 11 years.
The iPhone X isn’t available in red, but if you’re really pining to redden it somehow, Apple also launched a new red iPhone X Leather Folio, which will be available for $99 starting Tuesday, April 10.
A red case for your new red iPhone 8.Launched last year in March, the iPhone 7 was the first iPhone to get the (PRODUCT)RED treatment (note that the iPhone 7 was a red and white combination, while the iPhone 8 is red and black). Apple started the partnership with (RED) back in 2006 with a red iPod Nano, and has continued to launch red gadgets over the years. Buying any of Apple gadgets marked (PRODUCT)RED donates a portion of the proceeds to Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants.
The iPhone 8 Plus, (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition. The red iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will be available to order online in “select countries and regions” starting Tuesday, April 10, and they’ll be available in stores starting Friday, April 13.
