In case you haven’t been paying attention to what’s going on in the AMD world over the past week, the company’s second-generation Zen+ Ryzen processors have been announced, and will begin shipping on April 19th. The family includes the Ryzen 5 2600/2600X and the Ryzen 7 2700/2700X.
Given all the leaks over the past month, it should come as no surprise that there are more than a few of these processors in the hands of enthusiasts around the globe who are eager to see how far they can push them. User TSAIK has submitted CPU-Z results for overclocked examples of both the Ryzen 5 2600X and the Ryzen 7 2700X, and things are looking rather promising right out of the gate.

The Ryzen 5 2600X processor has a base clock of 3.6GHz and a max clock of 4.2GHz from the factory. However, TSAIK was able to push the chip to a max overclock of 5883MHz across all six cores using liquid nitrogen (LN2). The processor was installed in an MSI X470 GAMING PLUS motherboard, with voltage dialed in at 1.768 volts.
As for the Ryzen 7 2700X, TSAIK was able to hit a max overclock of 5884MHz on all 8 cores. The processor has a base clock of 3.7GHz and a max clock of 4.3GHz fresh out of the box. The 5884MHz overclocking result was achieved using an MSI X470 GAMING M7 AC motherboard with a Vcore of 1.76 volts.

These are some impressive numbers this early in the game for the 12nm Zen+ architecture, and there’s no telling how far these processors can go once big names in the enthusiast community — like Der8auer– get their hands on them.
Both the Ryzen 5 2600X and Ryzen 7 2700X are currently available for pre-order from Amazon priced at $229 and $329 respectively.
