Amazon Prime Day is nearly here, and for all you super shoppers out there this means a bargain hunting opportunity that more than rivals Black Friday. For the uninitiated, we’ve created this handy guide with everything you need to know.

Amazon Prime Day is kind of a big deal. The 24-hour (or sometimes more!) retail event gives Amazon Prime members access to unparalleled discounts on a range of products across the site. Even though it only launched in 2015, it has quickly become one of the biggest retail events in the year. According to Amazon, last year Prime Day was the biggest global shopping event in Amazon history, over taking both Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The first thing you need to do is  sign up and become a Prime member. Amazon Prime Day deals are only available to users with an Amazon Prime account. Even without this incentive the Prime subscription service offers pretty good value with the benefits of membership constantly being expanded by Amazon. In addition to free two-day shipping on many items, and access to a huge library of streaming TV shows, movies and music, members can now also download one Kindle book per month and get unlimited secure photo storage. Amazon even let you start with a 30-day free trial and offer flexible payment plans after that; £7.99 on a monthly basis (with a flexible cancellation policy) or £79.99 upfront annual fee. If it’s just the movies you are after, you can pay £5.99 for a Prime Video Subscription (click see more plans). Or if you are a student you can get  a free 6-month trial with a 50% off annual membership for up to four years.

Although there has been lots of speculation, Amazon hasn’t yet announced the day of its annual shopping extravaganza just yet. However, it’s expected to fall around mid-July, with promotions running for more than 24 hours.

Last year, some of the best deals during Prime Day were those on Amazon devices, such as the Echo, Echo Dot and Fire tablet. In the UK the top sellers were the TP-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plug and Sony Playstation 4. Expect more of the same with great deals across a wide range to products.

Bookmark this page. We will be updating it throughout the build up and on Prime day itself, curating all the best deals for you.
